Law as a tool for social justice
We are a collective of lawyers using our knowledge of the law to challenge systemic injustice
Our work
Sistren Legal Collective is a collective of lawyers working in solidarity with grassroots community organisations challenging systemic injustice. We use our knowledge of the law as a tool to resource communities, rethink how the law is practiced, and redistribute legal knowledge by collaborating with leaders, activists, and organisations centring racial and social justice.

Why ‘Sistren’?
“Sistren” means sisterhood in Jamaican Patois. The name reflects the sentiment that defines our founders’ friendship and family ties. It reflects the bonds of solidarity and support that guide our work and an approach to legal practice that is rooted in trust and mutual care.
How we support movements for change
We support individuals and groups that face systemic barriers to accessing legal support, including organisations led by and for Black, Brown, Asian, migrant, refugee and indigenous communities, disabled people, and other minoritised communities in the UK.
Our work equips communities with the knowledge to navigate legal systems, build collective power, architect their own solutions, and challenge structures that perpetuate harm. We believe in mutual co-learning and collaborations that dismantle lawyer-client hierarchies.
